About us
Founded in 2003, Bude Canoe club celebrates its 20th year this year!
We are a group of paddlers of all ages, that come together from all over Cornwall & Devon.
The club has offered Surf Kayaking and Canoe Polo over the years, but we have recently branched out to offer more...
The club is very proud to have trained and been home to many National and World Champions too!
We offer Winter & Summer sessions, with something for everyone.

What we do...
General Paddling
Everyone has to start somewhere.... We all did!
That’s why our winter indoor and outdoor general sessions are fantastic for new paddlers and those who want to brush up on their skills.
Come and join us at one of our pool or outdoor sessions where one of our friendly coaches will assist you where you need some help.
Surf Kayaking
The club has a history of producing world class Surf Kayakers, and we have some that coach our club sessions.
Who knows, you could be next!
Canoe Polo
Its fast, its crazy, but such great fun for everyone!
No matter your paddling experience, come and give it a try!
White Water
A great way to explore whilst kayaking. Different grades create different difficulties, meaning once you’ve got your core skills, you can work your way up.
Stand Up Paddleboard
A relatively new form of paddlesport which is accessible to all.
Whether its flat water or in the sea, its definitely worth trying!

That why we offer a Free Trial to those that are new to Bude Canoe Club.
We have all the equipment you will need, all you need to bring along is suitable swimwear and you’re good to go.

Chairman
Jack has been our Chairman for 6 years and is a British and World Surf Kayaking Champion.
He’s basically paddled his whole life!

Ed paddles everything! Surf, Whitewater, and Polo

Alan has played Canoe Polo in London & the Southwest for the past 15 years.

Welfare Officer
Chris comes from an outdoor education background and offers a wealth of experience to Bude Canoe Club.

Canoe Polo Captain
Leigh has played Canoe Polo in almost every National Division and has even played in International Competitions.
Alara
Assistant Treasurer
Alara provides such a great energy within the club, offering such valuable knowledge to our paddlers and assisting with the running of the club in more ways than we can list.

Bude Lifeboat Day - Canoe Polo Tournament
August Bank Holiday Monday
We are so pleased to announce that we have named this competition in memory of Andy Hambley.
Andy was a member of Bude Canoe Club since it was formed, and contributed so much during his involvement.
He was an incredibly talented paddler, where he would be most comfortable; surfing, playing polo or running rivers.
But it was the energy and love that he had for inspiring and teaching those around him in the most natural and chilled-out way possible.
In 2015, Andy sadly passed away and left both the club and its members greatly missing his light-hearted, bubbly, and incredibly generous personality.
He would always attend the Bude Lifeboat Day Canoe Polo Tournament and is jointly responsible for there being a Polo team at Bude at all.
For that reason, we are so incredibly grateful to his wife and family for allowing us to honor him and his love for the sport and the club by naming this tournament's trophy,
The Andy Hambley Trophy.
